Now fully awake, Yuki walked to her favorite spot on the out skirts of town, the big oak tree by the lake of crying souls. She had just settled down, when Kisa came padding down the path. Kisa was the loyal servant of Yuki, the tiger that can turn into anything. Kisa was a very big tiger for her age. “How come you left me when I was asleep?” asked Kisa in a quizzical voice.
“You take so long to get up, I thought it would be quicker just to leave you and come here. I knew you would follow me anyway.” Yuki replied in a disinterested voice. Kisa huffed and sat down by Yuki’s hand.
It was quiet for a few minutes, but then, Ren came walking down the path with Ura, his pet black panther. Ura has the same powers as Kisa. Ren had short black hair and brown eyes. Ren stopped right in front of Yuki and Ura bumped into Ren’s leg. Ura annoyed sat down and licked his paw. “Don’t see you often Yuki, where’ve you’ve been?” asked Ren. “None of your business Ren leave me alone.” She said in a very annoyed voice. Pretending not to hear her, Ren sat down on the other side of the tree, Ura following him like a shadow sat down too. “Why are you still here?” “Your maid asked me to come and get you. She said something about you and an exam.” He said with an expression of curiosity on his face. Yuki twitched and stood up slowly. “I’m sorry, but I must leave now.” She said in a very calm and cool voce. Kisa followed her master down the path and when they were out of hearing range Kisa said, “Your maid is foolish letting that information slip out.” Silently Yuki walked on, a blank expression on her face.
When she returned home her maid had a worried look in her eyes. “Where have you been, you have to get ready for the big exam!” “What do you think I was doing? I was practicing controlling souls at lake, but then Ren came! And how come you told him, if he knew he would stop me!” She exclaimed. “Well you know how dangerous the test and I think it would be his job to stop you, you going to be married.” Her maid said in a whisper. Yuki’s sharp ears heard that, she blushed deeply and stormed to her room, with Kisa padding along after her. In her room she thought about how she had acted at the lake, she wished she could go back and change what had happened. She really did love Ren with all her heart, that’s the reason she was taking the exam in the first place, she wanted to be good enough for him, for him to proud of her.
After she had practiced summoning bats until twilight, she went to sleep, Kisa stayed up longer a little longer than Yuki, and as she was dosing off she spotted Ura. Kisa bolted up, now wide awake Kisa jumped up to the windowsill to look Ura in the eye. Kisa changed into a human and opened the window, when she got out of the house she turned back. The sun was almost above the buildings when Kisa and Ura stopped near the big oak tree. “What do you want Ura?” Kisa said apparently pissed. “I need to talk to you about Ren and Yuki. Something strange is going on, Yuki has acted more closed up, almost cold. Ren has gotten more worried about her. Is everything all right?” Ura asked in a worried tone. Silently Kisa thought about how hard Yuki was trying to practice, but she knew her master would be happier if Ren stopped her, but then she would find out who told him. She would meet her half way. “Come see me two days from now at the same time.” Kisa proclaimed in a very serious voice. Ura nodded and left. Kisa padded back to her masters house on her own time.
The next two days went by uneventfully, except for Yuki’s maid was twice as annoying. At the same time, Kisa and Ura met at the same spot, Kisa had a letter with her. “What is that?” Ura asked. “Open this tonight at midnight, if you read it before then you will be stunned for a day.” She said. “Harsh.” They departed. That night, Yuki was preparing for her departure. “Well are you ready Kisa?” She asked nervously. “Yes… are you alright, your shaking.” “I’m just a bit nervous that’s all.” So they started out on their journey. At midnight Ura delivered the letter to Ren. “What’s this Ura?” “It’s from Kisa, about Yuki.” Without further hesitation he tore open the letter. As he read the letter his eye’s widened. He dropped the letter and grabbed his coat, Ura at his heels all the time.
Almost at the first obstacle in her journey, Yuki was tiring rapidly. She had been practicing all day for this. The object was to get across the VALLY OF DEATH without getting killed. There were no sort cuts so no one could heat, there is always someone at the end to present a medal to who anyone who finishes the challenge.
By now Yuki and Kisa was at the first challenge. A giant starving crow, Yuki and Kisa had kept their cool. Yuki summoned her powers. Vampires powers are very powerful, but the only side affect is they lose a lot energy after they fight. The way they use their powers, is they summon their energy (which turns into a lot strength) to any part of their body or they could distribute the energy equally through out their body and make a shield which protects the user, but that uses a lot of energy (WARNING!). Yuki was already at 75% power, but never the less she still summoned 25% of her power. Kisa turned into a giant tiger, the size of a large jet, a little smaller than the crow they where fighting.
After they defeated the giant crow, with a lot of struggling on Yuki’s part, they kept going further into the VALLY OF DEATH.
At this time Ren and Ura came to the gate to the VALLY OF DEATH, Ren ran through the gate at a quicker pace. He was so concerned of Yuki’s
safety that even though he was out of breath he kept on running. You see he had always liked Yuki sense they were kids, then one day they were engaged (vampires can’t choose their partners, the town counselors pick them) and he was so happy and he thought that Yuki was happy too but she was acting strange sense their engagement.
Now at one 50% power Yuki and Kisa came to their next obstacle, the soul sucker. This was a hard opponent to beat when she was practicing, so she summoned 40% of her strength and Kisa turned into a night panther, then they charged.
They barely made it out alive, but they made it, but the sun was coming up and if vampires get touched by sun light they get burned. Kisa was worried about Yuki, she was at 10% power and could not walk and barely breath, Kisa thought, where is Ren and Ura! Kisa turned into a human and dragged Yuki under an over hanging rock, then turned into a bird and flew up high to look for things approaching.
Ren was running past the shadow of the beaten soul sucker, the sun was coming up so Ura turned into a sun shield and then Ren spotted Kisa in the air he yelled “ Kisa, is that you?” Kisa saw him and did the sign for yes in the air and wrought “OVER HERE” and then she did a dive bomb to Yuki. By the time Ren and Ura got to Yuki, her energy level was at 6%. Kisa had turned in to a sun shield and was on Yuki. Yuki was a little burned and injured from her last fight. Ren picked her up in his arms and then he started running back the way he had come. It was afternoon when they got to Ren house. Ren set Yuki down on the couch and went to get stuff to clean her up. Kisa and Ura looked at each other in a worried way and then they went to look for bandages for Yuki’s wounds. When Ren returned with a clean set of clothes and hot water and cloths, Ren stared to clean her burns and set her broken wrist and ankle. Kisa and Ura came back with bandages for her burns. He changed her into clean clothes and carried her into his guest room.
When Yuki was taken care of, Ren talked to Ura and Kisa, “Why would Yuki do this?” he asked very confused. “It’s because she wanted you to be proud of her Ren.” Kisa said in a whisper. “What?” Ren and Ura asked in unison. “Yuki has always liked you, that’s why she went on the challenge!!” Kisa exclaimed. “Oh…I never thought….” Said Ren in a far off voice.
When Yuki woke up she was confused, what had happened after she fought the soul sucker? She looked around, where was she? She heard footsteps on the stairs. Ren walked in, “Oh, your wake. You were out of it for three days.” Ren said plainly. “I was?!!” “Yep.” She noticed her clothes, they weren’t hers. Yuki and Ren turned bright red. There was a long silence. Then Ren spoke up “I was worried about you.” Yuki turned a deeper red.
When Yuki’s wounds had healed, Yuki and Ren got married and a few years later they had a little girl, that girl was a little mischievous, but that’s another story.
